The Truth* is the Truth, and a lie is a lie. And, like everything in life, there are consequences to your alignment to one or the other.
It is important to always remember (as you go about navigating through Maya, often surrounded by distractions coming from other people’s mouths, actions, and their often disturbed and/or confused minds, imaginations, and/or psyches), that beliefs are not proof for the existence of anything…only clear knowing, with valid evidence that reflects Reality can prove anything.
Your beliefs are only a reflection of the nature, type, and quality of your thoughts and their resulting patterns. And, more often than not, your thoughts are only a reflection of the nature and quality of the secondhand perspectives that you have inherited and/or processed from others, often further reflecting the nature and quality of your ability to discern what is real from what is unreal, and/or the shape, nature, and quality of your imagination (and your understanding of/attachment to it), etc..
What are some of the consequences, do you think, of actually knowing a/the Truth or resting your faith, life, or sense of reality on a lie? How important is it to actually be right versus thinking/believing that you are right? And how much are you willing to do to behave as if you know the answers to the two questions that you just answered (or skimmed through) before this one?
*Here, we are always referring to the Truth with a capital T. Relative perspectives that you take on as “your truth” and live your life by will always (as somewhat explored above) have their own effects. But since these “truths” are personal/unique to you (and unless they are grounded in Absolute Truth), they do not have any Real value in actual Reality beyond the perceived value that they you hold in your (and/or other peoples’) body-minds that are subject to change when faced with actual Reality…especially, if there is any intelligence there…I could go on…but this is a short reminder…
