Some pursuits in life are a complete waste of time…barely even worth the lesson.
To ensure that your efforts are worthwhile at any given moment, have only the one True worthy aim in mind/heart continuously–and never be attached to any other outcome or side-effect of thought, word, or action as you move toward that goal.
To guarantee that any “success” in life is Real/True, check to see if your efforts, and results, are fully aligned with your spiritual growth, higher understanding, and the unconditionally blissful expression of your Spirit.
If any pursuit does not ultimately, or immediately, move you closer to inner Liberation and True, non-binding, uncontaminated, Joy, then it is not worth your life-force energy.
Even small efforts in the right direction is better than big efforts in the wrong one.
Sacrifice every thought, word, and action at the alter of your spiritual evolution.
