It’s Personal: Overcoming Fear (Part Two)

Let’s revisit the questions from the first part of this post:

Have you ever wanted something so much that you were gripped with immense fear of not getting it, or worst, wanted something so much that you were afraid of actually getting it?

Have you ever felt fear that maybe you don’t even know what you really want, that maybe you’ll make a mistake?

~~~
If these questions still evoke negative emotions within you (that is, if they don’t sound absolutely ridiculous to you now that you know what the function of fear is in your life experience) then I recommend completing the following visualization exercise, inspired by Jimmy Cliff’s popular song “I Can See Clearly,” to help you gain a different perspective on the issue.
I have included the song below for your enjoyment.
Be sure to make your visualization as personal to you as possible:
Imagine yourself happily walking along the pathway of your life towards your ultimate bliss when a storm suddenly emerges.
You feel exposed and frightened so you run for cover in the woods only to find that it is darker there than you had imagined.
Cold and terrified, you walk forward (or sit still), looking out and imagining all kinds of things that could pop out and “get you” at any moment, as you peer through the thick fog and rain that seems to envelop your very being. Your mind is now filled with all kinds of thoughts.
When you’ve thought until your head feels “full,” you close your eyes, not quite knowing what to do, and a soft, warm, and gentle voice surprises you with a reminder that”you are walking along the pathway of your life towards your ultimate bliss.”
You’re not sure what this means at this point, but the voice sounds certain that this is true, and proceeds by asking you what you would like to create in this moment.
“Create?” you question, before the storm suddenly subsides and you can see and feel the sunlight streaming through the once dark and frightening forest.
Now what do you choose to do?
~~~

What thoughts/feelings does the visualization (and song) evoke within you? Why?

I am curious to hear your responses in the comments section below.
