Have you ever wanted something so much that you were gripped with immense fear of not getting it, or worst, wanted something so much that you were afraid of actually getting it?
Have you ever felt fear that maybe you don’t even know what you really want; that maybe you’ll make a mistake?

My favorite definition of fear comes from the works of Abraham-Hicks, where the emotion is described as being an indicator that one is thinking a thought that is not true to who he/she really is, what his/her Source/inner being/higher self knows to be true.
The very presence of this powerful negative emotion, these teachers profess, is a blatant and sure sign that the thoughts that a person is thinking, and therefore what he/she is creating if that individual continues to give these thoughts (and their corresponding emotions) energy, is leading that person in a direction that is far from the path of following his/her bliss, what has been determined as that which is truly desired.

For me, reminding myself of the definition and purpose of fear has become my first step towards consciously breaking the chain of negative emotions that may arise at any given point in my life experience as a result of sloppy thinking or focus. But beyond the actual acknowledgement that a given thought is out of alignment with who I truly am (a topic that I will be discussing in a future blog post) is the conscious turning toward, or allowing myself to wander back to/realign with, the path of following my bliss.
In order to accomplish this realignment and fully step back into my “Knowing,” as many great thinkers and writers have often labeled the cognitive state that accompanies alignment with Source, a number of activities immediately come to mind. Meditation, dancing, singing, reading, being in nature, listening to music, writing, taking a nap, just to name a few, can be highly effective means for regaining balance and control of my day to day experience if I happen to start a chain of negative thoughts/emotions. Anything that allows me to focus on something other than the “issue” that is mulling around in my head helps me to “deactivate” the power of any given negative thought.
And once a negative thought has been deactivated, and I can clearly see through the fog of heavy emotions that previously distorted the lens through which I was viewing the world, I tend to automatically find myself back in a “state” where life feels incredibly exciting and within my control, because I remember (and know) that I have choices about how my experiences unfold, how I perceive the events and occurrences in my life, and most importantly, I remember that even beyond what I can mentally comprehend, is a “Knowing”
that I am divinely loved, supported, and guided.
